Some years back, the priviledges of the customer serving lines are often reasonable and even attractive. Example, the priviledges you get to redeem on your birthday for being a loyal client or the priviledges that you get to enjoy for being a member or for attracting you to visit the place again. Those days it could easily be a one for one buffet or up to a certain attractive discount off at a high class restaurant or entertainment at all times.
Nowadays, the priviledges gets pretty miserable. So miserable you do not even want to utilise it. From high class restaurant, it turned to fast food restaurant and at 10% only. As if it is not miserable enough, this discount is not allowed to use it on buying set meals, which is usually what you would eat at fast food restaurant. Otherwise it would be buying a pizza meal then you would be entitle to a free SMALL THIN pan pizza.
Recently, I saw a S$2 off movie price offer which is EXCLUSIVE for members and went to see the details. And I saw -Not applicable on Friday-Sunday, public holidays, eve of public holidays and SCHOOL holidays! furthermore restricted to movies that are Not valid for films marked No Free Passes. It reminds me of the KTV vouchers terms that my friend showed me recently. There were many vouchers yet all the vouchers have almost the same terms as the movie "EXCLUSIVE"!
Last time, when you see these priviledges or promotion, you simply cannot wait to utilize it. If you were a loyal client or member, you would felt happy and even rewarded to enjoy what is given. But nowadays, I just felt the consumer are being treated like a fool. By utilising these "exclusive", it is as good as bring more hassle to ourselves for the sake to spend more money! It seem nowadays it is no longer reward or attracting consumers to keep them, but treating them like a fool to spin in more money for them. As a consumer, your "rewards" somehow appear to be a disguise for spending more money at no cost from the sources at all.
